Project #39 RYOKO

 



Ryoko is a fitted, circular yoke sweater. The yoke is provisionally cast-on & knit bottom-up to better adjust for yoke height. The body with waist-shaping is knitted top-down to better adjust its length.

The ease for the finished garments is ~0 (2, 0)” for sizes S (M, L). Sample garment shown in size Small is knitted with 2 strands of sample yarns held together, with the resulting weight equal to Aran/Worsted. When substituting yarn, it might be preferable to start with a single strand of Aran/Worsted weight yarn.

Sizes: Small (Medium, Large) 
Bust: 32”/ 81 cm (34”/ 86 cm, 36”/ 91 cm)
Waist: 26”/ 66 cm (28”/ 71 cm, 30”/ 76 cm)
High Hip: 31”/ 79 cm (33”/ 84 cm, 35”/ 89 cm)

The suggested skeins of yarn for the whole project are 4 (5, 5) of MC & 1 (2, 2) of the CC yarns listed below. When in doubt, always get an extra skein.

Materials, Tools, & Notions:

-Yarns: Hobbii Winter Glow Solid in Thistle #39 (MC) & Cherry #35 (CC) – 51% Wool/49% Acrylic – 3.5oz/100g & 350 m/382 yds

-Needles: 1) Circular needles (CircN) in US 7 /4.5 mm of lengths: 
                     • 16”/40 cm (neckband) 
                     • 32”/80 cm (yoke & body ITR, & sleeves in magic loop method) 
                     • 40”/100 cm (yoke) 
                 2) CircN in US 5 / 3.75 mm of length 32” / 80 cm (cuff in magic loop method) 
                 3) Crochet hook in US G-6 /4 mm. (for provisional CO)

-All else: Stitch markers, removable stitch markers (optional), waste yarn/stitch holders, tape measure, yarn needle & scissor.

Gauge: (Knit ITR, with 2 strands of sample yarns held together & blocked):

Please use Chart 1a for colorwork gauge swatching & do not work the decreases. Sample swatch was worked with 3 pattern repetitions & up to round 21. 

-Stockinette: 10 sts x 13 rounds = (2 x 2)” or (5.1 x 5.1) cm. 
-Colorwork: 11 sts x 11.5 rounds = (2 x 2)” or (5.1 x 5.1) cm.

Hana is knitted top-down, in-the-round, with contiguous set-in-sleeves, & finished with 1x1 ribbings.  Sample garment is fitted with no ease from body measurements, cropped, & falls to low waist.  Sleeves fall a few inches above elbow. Sample garment is in size Small.   Designer is pear body-shaped, & petite (5’4”).      Difficulty Level : Intermediate/Advanced. Project #35 Suzanne

Instructions for Suzanne is for size Small only .  It is knitted top-down, flat, with contiguous set-in-sleeves, four vertical button holes, & 1x1 ribbings.  The vertical edgings & collar is later added on with the collar knitted bottom-up. The garment is fitted with 1” positive ease from my chest measurements & no ease from my waist & upper hip measurements to give a bit more shaping.  Body measurements were taken with what I planned to wear underneath (my last project).  Difficulty level : Intermediate/Advanced.
